March 2026 Round-up

March 2026 Round-up
March, once again, a month full of inter-club sparring, thanks to Tenterden ABC, Bodyshots ABC, and TKO Folkestone this month. Ashford’s Jacob Troth had his first bout in four years against Aylesham ABC’s Brandon Millie-Leslie at their home show on Saturday, 7th March. The first round saw both boxers come out strong and exchange heavy punches, with Jacob mainly targeting the body and Brandon aiming for the head. In the second round, both fighters continued with fierce exchanges, and then, 40 seconds in, Jacob was caught with a solid left hook, prompting the referee to give him a count. Jacob fought tenaciously, with both boxers throwing powerful punches, then Brandon caught Jacob with a solid right hand that didn’t send him down but forced the referee to give a second count and stop the fight, making Brandon the winner by referee stoppage. On 12th March, Ashford’s Shannon Collins faced off again with Roxie Brooker of Academy ABC at their home show. Shannon delivered a strong and swift performance, securing a first-round stoppage win. Well done, Shannon. Bertie, who attends our 5-9’s session, was named Boxer of the Month. Keep up the good work, Bertie! Additionally, the club has had some excellent work, revamping the entrance and viewing area whilst adding 30 new pairs of gloves, after our last supply served us so well. Team Ashford is proud of all its boxers, coaches, and everyone who helps keep the team running. We look forward to April.
February 2026 Round-up

February 2026 Round-up
Fab February, what a month it has been, full of inter-club sparring, thanks to White Cliffs ABC, Eastern ABC, Westree ABC, Aylesham ABC, and Counter Punch ABC. This month, Ashford’s Matteo Kola had his final skills bout on Saturday, the 14th, against Lincoln Rennie of Tenterden ABC, putting on a fine display against the home boxer. Then, on Friday the 20th, Ashford’s George Russell achieved his first win in his second outing for the club, against Jim Farley of Hornets ABC. On Saturday, the 21st, Ashford’s Shannon Collins and Max Knight made their debuts for Ashford Boxing Club at the TKO Folkestone show held at the Stour Centre in Ashford. First up was Shannon against Ronnie Brooker of Academy ABC. Both girls delivered strong performances throughout the contest, with Shannon forcing a standing count midway through. They gave it their all until the final bell, where Shannon was announced the winner by unanimous decision. Next was Max against Jesse Moore of Sheerness ABC. From the first bell, this contest was fought at a very explosive pace, with both boxers eager to take control. Jesse pressed forward from the start, prompting Max to use swift, controlled footwork, combined with an array of punches to both body and head. There were good exchanges throughout, with both boxers maintaining the high pace until the final bell, earning applause from the attentive spectators. Max was announced the winner by way of a unanimous points decision. Additionally, this month saw Mickey McCoy named Monday’s Boxer of the Month and Albie Edwards of Tuesday’s 5-9 training session awarded his Boxer of the Month. Keep up the good work, Team Ashford — we look forward to March.

November Round-up

On 14th November, we watched Matteo deliver a fine display of boxing against Canterbury City’s Ralph Akin in his second skills bout of the season at the Canterbury City open show. Also during this month, there was some good inter-club sparring with Creekside Amateur Boxing Club, with all involved showing great potential. While the club continues to grow and develop from our Tuesday 5-9 year-old sessions, the popular Wednesday females-only class, and additional male beginner classes on Wednesdays. Our boxers’ only sessions, both junior and seniors, are growing nicely. On Friday the 28th, we travelled to Sittingbourne, where Matteo had his third skills bout against Zayne Young of Kent Gloves ABC. He gained more valuable experience in the early stages of his boxing development. The club is now in full swing with the refurbishment, with works underway to make full use of the gym and to update the central heating.
October Round-up

October brought exciting interclub sparring sessions with Eastern, Creekside, and Aylesham boxing clubs. Our ladies’ sessions, held on Wednesday evenings, are gaining incredible momentum. We also have an additional men’s beginners’ group that meets on Wednesdays.
We are proud to recognize our 5-9’s Boxers of the Month, Billy and Nathan Collins.
Additionally, we had two promising athletes making their debut bouts, both demonstrating impressive potential and dedication at the Canterbury City dinner show. First up was Ashford’s Matteo Kola, who faced Buddy Wells from Canterbury City ABC. This was a good starting point for Matteo in a skills bout. Despite giving away height and reach, Matteo showcased his potential and boxing ability.
The second debut for Ashford came from George Russell, who also fought a Canterbury City boxer, Harry Place. George, too, faced a taller, rangier opponent and fought hard and strong. Both boxers did themselves proud in their debut bouts, although Harry Place from Canterbury City ABC won on points. A big thank you to Canterbury City for having us on their show.
We look forward to November and the continued growth and development of our club, our boxers, and our coaches.
September Round-up
Tilly Spokes achieved her first victory at the TKO Folkestone ABC open show on Saturday, 6th September. She faced a tough and resilient Sydney Moat from Sandwich ABC.
We’ve experienced some excellent quality inter-club sparring both at the gym and at clubs that have hosted us. These sparring sessions have been vital in sharpening our skills and preparing for upcoming competitions. We want to give a big shout-out to those clubs for their hospitality and sportsmanship.
On Saturday, 20th September, Ashford’s Alfie Pile made his debut against Elijah Milne of Sandwich ABC, demonstrating formidable promise in his skills bout. Next was Joe Henderson, competing for the first time for the club, against Westree ABC’s Leo Brown. Both boxers fought gallantly from the outset, with Leo Brown winning by a close points decision. Thirdly, to get off to a good start to his season, Ashford’s Deniz Cerit secured a unanimous points win against East Brighton ABC’s Codie Stocker.
The club’s 5-9-year-old development session is rapidly expanding, taking place every Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:15 pm. Our Wednesday female-only session, from 6:30 to 7:30, is not just gaining popularity; it’s becoming a symbol of our club’s inclusivity, steadily increasing in numbers. We also run an additional beginners’ men-only session every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, thanks to the growing interest and support from our members and the local community.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, young Caeleb was awarded for his potential and received the award for Best Potential Boxer of the session. We are dedicated to nurturing young talent and look forward to witnessing the growth of more young boxers as they develop both as individuals and amateur athletes.
